It Takes One to Know One, Pal

Maybe I've told some of you that EFL/ESL teachers often get a bad reputation as globe-trotting, ambitionless molesters. People in the field with no sense of humor bristle at the assertion that a person who wants to spend his/her life hopping from Minsk to Bangalore to Monrovia could be anything less than adventurous, courageous and of the highest moral caliber.

We all know that there are some unsavory English teachers out there. There are ones who thought to themselves that oft-thought maxim, "Well, I know English. Maybe I could teach English...?" and proceeded to sully the reputations of those among us who have no interest in sleeping with our students. With a 6-week certificate they head off to a place far from home, far from anyone who remembers that time they got caught touching themselves at Arby's.

Whoever operates this site, Englishdroid.com, shares my belief that teaching English at home or abroad comes with its own set of in-jokes and situations not fit for cuddly teacher-love. Bless that person.
